The Twin Lagoons are one of the must-see destinations in the Coron Island Hopping Tour.

The first lagoon is where the boats dock, while the second lagoon is hidden, the only access of which is a small crevice underneath the rock, or during high tide, a ladder over the rock.

One may notice that the waters in the twin lagoons may sometimes be blurry, this is caused by the meeting of the salt water and fresh water.

The temperature of the waters in the Twin Lagoons also alternates between warm and cold (similar to Lake Barracuda), where the cold freshwater meets the hot salt water.
Pinsal Falls is a Philippine waterfall that is located in the town of Santa Maria in the province of Ilocos Sur. With a height of approximately 85 feet, it is known for being the largest waterfall in the Ilocos Region as well as for its natural beauty. With its romantic atmosphere, Pinsal Falls is a popular location for filming Philippine movies as well as a favorite spot for swimming and for picnicking. The pools at the top of the falls are famous as well. The biggest of these pools figures in a local legend as it is said to be the footprint that was left by an Ilocano giant who was running off in search of his wife. There is also a famous spring with boiling-hot water at the top of the falls.

The waterfall lies among the shady hills and mountains of Barangay Babal-lasioan in the town of Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur, which also famous for its parish church which dates back to the Spanish era. Pinsal Falls is about 45 minutes away by car from Sta. Maria’s municipal hall. The falls may also be reached by foot from the nearby town of Pilar, Abra, through a set of stone steps in the mountain by the falls. These steps are regularly used by the residents of Pilar to travel to and from the town of Sta. Maria.

Sandugo Festival is a yearly historical event that takes place every year on the month of March, in the island of Bohol. This festival honors the celebration of a local Philippine leader Datu Sikatuna's blood compact and association or treaty of friendship with the Spanish king conquistador, Captain General Miguel López de Legazpi in March 16, 1565.

History

It began with the arrival of Miguel López de Legazpi in the shores of Tagbilaran, Bohol in 1565 and the swearing of commitment of Datu Sikatuna to the Spanish crown. The two people were believed to have made a cut on their left arms with a dagger and sprinkled their blood into a cup filled with wine, which both drunk in honor of their friendship and brotherhood. The treaty was signed on the SW coast of Bohol Island in March of 1565. This was 44 years after Ferdinand Magellan was killed attacking a Philippine village on Mactan Island about 50 miles north of here.

The Sandugo treaty is called a blood compact because the participants each drink a small amount of the other's blood. ("Dugo" means blood in the Visayan language.) This was a traditional way to formalize treaties of friendship in the Philippines. Magellan himself took part in several of these ceremonies before attacking Mactan Island.

The Blood Compact preserved the ties of friendship between two people once different in religion, nationality, culture and civilization. The Tagbilaran native chieftain who swore by his ancestral Anito and Bathala, and the Spanish courageous explorer and colonizer, who sought New World with the sword and the cross, drank to the common cause - friendship. It was the first international treaty of friendship and comity between the Filipinos and Spaniards.

The Festival

The annual celebration of the Sandugo Festivities begins in the month of March. However the street dancing competitions have been changed to July to coincide with the annual TBTK (Tigum Bol-anon Tibuok Kalibutan) translated into English, literally or otherwise - a gathering of Boholanos (the people of Bohol) from around the world. Tagbilaran City not only rejoices its Charter Day on the month of July but also the Province of Bohol which became a separate politico-military province on July 22, 1854, thereby creating a festive mood for the whole month.

Hundreds and thousands of People from around the Philippines and the world gather for this special event which involves colorful costumes and loud drum beats, street parades, church services, fireworks, beauty pageants, cockfighting tournaments and sport tournaments.

Today, the highlight of the Sandugo Festival is a street dancing competition held in Tagbilaran City. Each local high school develops its own dance custom with special costumes and choreography. A small marching band follows each group of dancers to provide the music. The bands consist only of xylophones, drums, and trumpets. Some of the dancing was very good, and the costumes were very colorful. The parade also integrated the customary entourage of local officials, police department, local businesses and associations - and, of course, the local beauty queens, Miss Bohol and Miss Tagbilaran.

A big surprise to us was the last parade entry, which was a large flat bed truck carrying 9 or 10 very flamboyant and attractive transvestites. There were no banners on the truck, just a few white ballons attached to the cab and printed, "Miss Gay 2001". This entry was a real crowd pleaser and received more of a reaction than any other parade event. They were met with howls and hollers and cheers all along the parade route. We were told that the transvestites traditionally work as beauticians in the local beauty parlors, and are readily accepted in the community.

The Kalsangi Clubhouse in Polomolok, South Cotabato is only intended for DOLE Philippines' employees and expats. Aside from this exlusive privilege, its secluded location makes itself relatively inaccessible to the general public as well. One has to take a private vehicle in getting to the clubhouse and also make a prior arrangement with a DOLE employee for access to the place.

TIBIAO, ANTIQUE – Seco Island is becoming a popular adventure destination thanks to kitesurfing.

Kitesurfing or kiteboarding originated from Germany in the 1970s but gained popularity in many countries, including the Philippines, in recent years. Kitesurfing allows a surfer to use a huge kite to propel him and his board across the waves.

Seco Island is a1.5-kilometer stretch of sand and shallow clear water popular for game fishing activities, white water kayaking, and river rafting.

But the habagat hitting Seco Island made it into a popular kitesurfing destination with the strong, consistent wind taking kitesurfers as high as 50 to 150 feet in the air while on their surfboards.

Bloggers describe Seco Island as a sanctuary and a safe zone for kitesurfing.
Kite safaris are now becoming a hit among kitesurfers who intend to hop from one island to another and weigh the winds to see where best to kitesurf.

Kitesurfer Dane, in her blog Trust me, it’s Paradise, wrote of the appeal of the island because of its simplicity.

Kitesurfer Carlos wrote in iKiteboarding.com that the sport is more than just gearing up and with a board and kite and riding the winds – it’s about experiencing the elements, particularly when one is kitesurfing in gusty winds

However, beginners need to take kitesurfing lessons. Kiteboarding.com gives tips and basic lessons for kitesurfing from the professionals themselves. Of course, one can be creative after knowing the basic fundamentals of the sport.

One can also readily take up lessons in some kitesurfing schools like Isla KiteSurfing in Boracay which is just a two hour ride from Tibiao town. But for beginners, Seco Island is an ideal location.

The project started with a dream of the owners way back in 1998 to offer to the community a place where the family could get together more often while having leisure and fun. The concept of a leisure park that would be very affordable to all people of different walks of life which its facilities would be at par with the international standards of providing recreation to the family.

Indeed from the very beginning, the management has been very optimistic on providing every guest an "experience"- such experience to be noted as "unique" in the sense that he/she would feel not only satisfied but as well as delighted everytime he or she leaves the place.

Another “must-see” in Northern Mindanao is the Misamis Occidental Aquamarine Park (MOAP), located in Libertad Bajo, Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental. The place has two attractions: the mini zoo and the dolphin island.

There is an entrance fee of PhP 10.00 per head. The zoo is different from any other zoos. Apart that it is situated in a mangrove forest, the pathway of the mini zoo formed like a rectangle and it is made of bamboos which is quite unique. Whoever planned the bamboo pathways must be creative. The animals are caged and are put beside the pathway. Everyone who passes by the pathway should be able to see and observe all the animals in the zoo.

SAMPAGUITA GARDENS is a 2.6- hectare boutique resort located in Aklan of Sam Butcher, the artist and creator of the Precious Moments doll with its signature teardrop loving eyes.

The center of the gardens is Jojo's Christmas Cottage which is a Victorian cottage that offers Christmas Everyday Experience. It has a Precious Moments store in the ground floor and the JCC Museum of Christmas in the upper floors showcasing Precious Moments collectibles.

It is 15 minutes away from the Kalibo Airport and most families that travel to Boracay would make it a point to stay one more night in this Resort before flying out of Kalibo.

Some of the areas of the Resort are a bit dilapidated, but still functional. It is best to go as a side-trip during the Ati-Atihan festival or during the cold BER season in time for Christmas.

Bukilat Cave is one of the main tourist attractions in the Camotes group of Islands in Cebu, Philippines. It is one of the 8 natural caves in Camotes and is the most prominent. It is believed to be named after the founder’s name, Bukilat. A long time ago, Bukilat Cave used to be the shelter for the people living in the island from the Japanese invaders during World War II. It has been rumored to have hidden treasures scattered throughout this area.

Located Northeast of Camotes, in the island of Poro, Bukilat Cave boasts its icy-cool water coming from an unknown source. Many believed that the water came from an underground spring and the droplets from the stalactites. Some of the water flows out to the nearby sea. It is situated in McArthur, Tudela, Poro Island, Camotes, Cebu.

The San Pedro Cutud Lenten Rites is a Holy Week re-enactment of Christ’s Passion and Death complete with a passion play culminating with the actual nailing of at least three flagellants to a wooden cross atop the makeshift Calvary. Every year on Good Friday, a dozen or so penitents - mostly men but with the occasional woman - are taken to a rice field in the barrio of San Pedro Cutud, 3km from San Fernando,Pampanga and nailed to a cross using two-inch stainless steel nails that have been soaked in alcohol to disinfect them. The penitents are taken down when they feel cleansed of their sin. Other penitents flagellate themselves using bamboo sticks tied to a rope.

San Pedro Cutud is a town in Pampanga province in the Philippines, approximately 70 kilometers north of Manila. It is known for annual re-enactments of the crucifixion of Jesus. During Holy Week each year, thousands of penitents arrive in the area to watch and take part in a pageant commemorating the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus, including the Good Friday flagellation and crucifixion rituals. A small number of participants choose to have their hands and feet temporarily nailed to makeshift crosses as a sign of faith and repentance; some undergo the ritual yearly.

Crystal Cove Island (used to be Tiguatian Island) in the Philippines is a wonderful island with white beaches and crystal blue water. It lies near Caticlan and Boracay Island. It has a peaceful and relaxing environment with pleasing ambiance and no living inhabitants.

It was discovered a long time ago by fisherman and was gradually developed to invite tourists and locals to visit the place. Crystal Cove Island is a fantastic way to rejuvenate. If you’re on a vacation in Boracay Island, missing this place is the last thing you will ever do.

Getting to Crystal Cove Island is by a boat ride or “Bangka” in Filipino. It is a 20-minute ride from the North Eastern part of Boracay Island. There are less “Bangka” from Caticlan Port going to Crystal Cove Island so you chose to travel by boat to Boracay Island first, then travel by “Bangka” to Crystal Cove Island.

The view of Crystal Cove Island from afar is very exciting. The white beaches and trees that surrounds the island is captivating and the people who worked in the island are very accommodating. The entrance fee is only P200 per person and you get to enjoy the island the whole day including some of its facilities.

There are a lot of activities you can do in Crystal Cove Island such as picnic with your loved ones, exploring the caves, swimming, snorkeling and of course picture taking.

Today's hectic lifestyles often leave families with little time to spend together, let alone go out of town on an expensive vacation. Splash Island offers a place where residents and visitors can convene, play, and relax!

Splash Island truly is your Caribbean vacation close to home!

Located on 4.3 acres, the tropical-themed Splash Island includes three waterslides, an interactive play area for all ages including kiddie slides, water jets, ropes and guns, a gentle winding river, lily pad crossing, two pulsating vortexes, and plenty of deck space and grassy areas for sun bathing and family fun. The park also includes a six lane competition pool with an attached diving well featuring two 1-meter springboards. NEW FOR 2012: Leisure River, a 900-foot long lazy-river style attraction where you can float on tubes along a 12-foot wide path, propelled by a current of water. Hot? Take the optional track through a rock waterfall and coconut tip buckets that will cool you off! There's also a water basketball court in the middle of the attraction.

Since we are the best waterpark around, we let our Guests bring in coolers from home.

Siargao Island is situated northeast of northern Mindanao. It is composed mostly of karstic (limestone) and in some areas of ultramafic (area with high mineral content) geology. This small island has flat to gentle sloped terrain. There is no prominent mountain in the island.

Siargao is well-known for surfers and beach loving people. It boasts to have one of the biggest waves the ocean has to offer in the Philippine archipelago. It has white beaches with fine-grained sands. The long seashores make a leisurely walk to pick empty shells a welcome activity.

Unknown to most people who visited Siargao, in the northern part of the island lies a small waterfall that offer an extra venue for tourists to enjoy the holiday. Tak-tak Fall is located in Rizal of the municipality of Sta. Monica. The waterfall is not that high as compared to islands with high mountains. Despite its size, the pool formed by cementing the lower portion of the waterfall allows a refreshing retreat for those scorched from the sun while surfing. The surrounding area is still covered with good vegetation and one of the newest damselfly (Drepanosticta schorri Villlanueva, 2011) from the Philippines came from this area.

The Mansion (also known as the Mansion House) is the official summer residence of the President of the Philippines. The mansion is located in the summer capital of the country, Baguio, situated around 5,000 feet (1,500 m) asl in the Cordillera Central Range of northern Luzon.

History
The Mansion was built in 1908 to serve as the official summer residence of U.S. Governor-Generals at the instance of Governor-General William Cameron Forbes. The name is derived from the summer cottage in New England of Governor Forbes whose administration the original Mansion House was built under. Architect William E. Parsons, based on preliminary plans by architect Daniel H. Burnham, the planner of the city of Baguio, designed the mountain retreat following the tenets of the City Beautiful Movement. In 1910, the meeting of the Second Philippine Legislature was held at The Mansion for three weeks.

The house was badly damaged during the Second World War and was rebuilt in 1947. Since then, it has served as the holiday home and working office for each President of the Philippines during his or her visits to Baguio.

The Mansion House was also used as the venue of important events, such as the second session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East (ECAFE) in 1947, the second session of the Food and Agriculture Organization in 1948, and the first meeting of the Southeast Asian Union (SEAU), more commonly known as the Baguio Conference of 1950, which was conceived and convened by President Elpidio Quirino. More recently, The Mansion has been the site of a number of international conferences.

Description
The Mansion consists of an elegantly designed Spanish Colonial Revival main building and a guest house. The elaborate main gate, made of ornate ironwork, was earlier reported as a replica of one of the main gates at Buckingham Palace in London, which is false. The front gate is still one of the most photographed section of the property. Tourists can visit the Mansion's museum containing presidential memorabilia.
Across the road from the Mansion House is Wright Park, a quiet promenade with a long reflecting pool lined with pine trees. A long stairway lead visitors to the back where ponies for children are available for hire. Dotted all around the nearby hills are vacation homes and small inns.

Hinulugan Taktak is a waterfall found in the province of Rizal. The waterfall area has been designated as a National Park by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and is one of the two most popular tourist spots in Antipolo City, the other being the Antipolo Cathedral. In 1990, the waterfall has also been proclaimed as a National Historical Shrine under Republic Act No. 6964.

The history of Hinulugan Taktak is as rich and colorful as that of Antipolo itself. Legend has it that sometime during the 16th century, the townsfolk of Antipolo were bothered by a church bell that produced harsh, unbearably loud sounds when rung during Angelus. They demanded that the local priest get rid of the bell. Bowing down to the clamor, the priest had it dropped in a nearby river. This explains the name, “Hinulugan Taktak” which means ‘where the bell was dropped’. As Antipolo became a religious site, the waterfalls also become a prominent destination for bathing and sightseeing. In the 1980s, it was declared a National Park by the government.

Once again Davao City will be celebrating their 76th Araw ng Dabaw. A month-long celebration is expected to bring thousands of visitors, tourists, transients and travelers to the city.

Araw ng Dabaw, which literally means "Davao Day," is a week-long celebration of the founding of the city with trade fairs, colorful socio-civic and military parades along the main streets of the city, cultural presentations of the various ethnic tribes in Davao City, sports competitions, and fireworks. The highlight of the event is the selection of the "Mutya ng Dabaw," which means "Miss Davao", from among the best, the brightest, and the most beautiful ladies in the city.

HISTORY

The Araw ng Dabaw has its roots. In the 1930's, Davao was completely under the control of the Japanese immigrants, who, despite laws restricting foreign ownership of land, managed to become the largest plantation owners in Davao. They were able to achieve this by using dummies to buy land for them, and by marrying local women particularly with Datu lineage, and also by renting land from local landowners. During this period, the then undivided province of Davao was the biggest producer of abaca in the world with the Japanese practically controlling the entire industry. Their economic dominance in Davao made them politically influential. They had built their own schools, hospitals, and constructed road networks. The biggest concentration of the Japanese was in the Guianga District, centered around Mintal, and their population grew to about 17,900 by 1939.

As Japan was becoming a world power, having defeated Russia in 1904 and annexed Korea in 1910 and Manchuria in 1931, doubts were raised as to the real intentions of the Japanese presence in the country. In the 1934 Constitutional Convention, Davao delegate Pantaleon Pelayo Sr. bravely denounced the control of Davao by the Japanese and their unlimited acquisition of land. The presence of the Japanese in Davao had now become a national problem.

On March 16, 1936, Davao Assemblyman Romualdo C. Quimpo filed Bill No. 609 or Commonwealth Act No. 51 - An Act Creating the City of Davao, which was intended to break the control of the Japanese. The Act further stipulated that the city officials would be solely appointed by the President of the Philippines instead of being elected, as it was believed then that in elections, Japanese-supported candidates would win, and, therefore, entrench Japanese power in Davao.

On October 16, 1936, Bill No. 609 was signed into law by then President Manuel L. Quezon. The following year, on March, 1937, Executive Proclamation No. 132 was issued that formally created the City of Davao.

It was during the term of Mayor Elias B. Lopez that the celebration of the foundation of Davao City was made a week-long celebration that culminated on March 16.

Today, Davao City ranked number 2 as the most livable City in the Philippines. In the early 2000s, Davao City has been recognized as the most liveable city in the Philippines but in the recent years, it has been outranked by the other fastest growing and well performing cities in the Philippines. Davao City ranked 87th fastest growing city in the world by the City Mayors Foundation and 10th Asian City of the Future by the FDI Magazine. It is the most important financial and trade center and the richest city in Mindanao thus the nickname the ” Crown Jewel of the South”. It is the 5th best performing city financially, 2nd best city that caters the tourist with best natural attractions, 4th producer of young professionals, 9th in having the most cultural and commercial ties here and abroad, 1st in calamity safety index and 3rd in having the best infrastructure among the cities in the country.

MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon – Thousands of tourists and locals gathered here Saturday morning and witnessed the spectacular presentation of rituals, songs, dances and colorful costumes in the street dancing competition, one of the highlights of the annual Kaamulan Festival.

Clad in their native costumes, contingents from the seven ethnic hill tribes of Bukidnon -- Talaandig, Higaonon, Umayamnon, Manobo Tiguahanon, Matigsalug and Bukidnon – gracefully swayed to the beating of the drums and painted the city with their exemplary performance in dancing, chant and rituals. They rode in colorful floats during the parade.

Representatives from schools, local government units of the different towns and cities of the province and other agencies also joined in the annual street dancing competition and ground demonstration held at the Kaamulan grounds here.

Kaamulan Festival is a cultural showcase of the rich customs and traditions of the seven hill tribes of Bukidnon.

Senatorial candidate and San Juan Representative JV Ejercito, who witnessed the activity as special guest, lauded both the organizers and the participants for making the festival a success despite security threats brought about by the recent attack of the New People’s Army at Del Monte and Dole plantations in nearby Manolo Fortich and Impasug-ong towns last February 19.

Ejercito said he had been very supportive of the tourism activities in the country, particularly the world-renown Kaamulan Festival which had already become part of the superhighway activities of the Department of Tourism (DOT).

The Miag-ao Church, or Church of Santo Tomas de Villanueva, was built in 1786 by Spanish Augustinian missionaries and was declared as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Baroque Churches of the Philippines" in 1993. On the front facade, which is flanked by two watchtower belfries, one can see the unique blending of Spanish and native influences.

The central feature of the bas-relief facade is a large coconut tree which reaches almost to the apex. While an integral part of the Philippine landscape, the coconut tree is also the subject of lore. According to an old Philippine legend, the coconut tree was the only bequest from a loving mother to her two children, a tree which sustained them for life. On the church's facade the coconut tree appears as the "tree of life" to which St. Christopher carrying the Child Jesus on his shoulder is clinging to. The lesser facades feature the daily life of Miagaowanons during the time. Also depicted are other native flora and fauna, as well as native dress.

The church and its watchtowers were also built to defend the town and its people against raids by the Moros. It therefore has thick walls and, reportedly, secret passages. Indeed stretching along the Iloilo coast are defensive towers, but none that equal the size of the Miag-ao. It is because of this defensive purpose that it is sometimes referred to as the Miag-ao Fortress Church.
