Danao Adventure Park, Bohol

The Danao Adventure Park is Bohol's newest tourist attraction located in the municipality of Danao in Bohol Province. Danao Bohol is a 5th class municipality subdivided into 17 barangays and has a population of roughly 20,000 people. It is ninety two kilometers or roughly 2 hrs drive from the province's capital, Tagbilaran City.

The Danao Adventure Park incorporated the river, caves, gorges and mountain ranges into it's eco-adventure tourism while carefully conserving it's ecosystem. It is an adventurer's perfect place to experience river kayaking and tubing, river trekking and boulder hopping, root climbing, rappelling, spelunking, and zip line, all of which are centered in the Wahig River. The park adds to the list of Bohol's famous attractions like the Chocolate Hills, the Philippine Tarsiers, and Panglao Island to name a few.

The Kamira Cave in Danao Adventure Park is one of the three caves in Danao declared as safe to explore by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). The area where the cave is located is a sanctuary, protected by the municipality in a careful attempt to preserve the natural beauty of the place. Even at the cave site, only ropes are used to maneuver in and out of the cave which is 477 meters in length. Cave exploration usually last between 45 minutes to an hour.

Majestic stone formations will greet you at the entrance of the cave. Hanging from the ceilings are stalactites while on the ground are stalagmites. Most walls and boulders have flowstones that glitter when lights from flash lights, headlights and lamps shine on it. The water inside is icy cold and leads to a natural pool at the end of the cave that also has a fountain. The cave is also home to the different species of bats, and fresh water crabs.

The newest activity added in the Danao Adventure Park is the Zip Line which, in the adventure park, is called "Suislide". The zip line stretches to 480 meters long and traverses the Wahig River at 200 meters high. Another thrilling extreme adventure is The Plunge where one is secured on a cable and would have to do 45 meters free fall before being launched on a pendulum swing.

Another exhilarating activity in the Danao Adventure Park is riding the colorful kayaks and rubber tubing through the currents of the Wahig River. Trekking through the river and mountains as well as biking and enjoying nature in this part of Bohol is also a worthwhile activity and something to remember.
